Activity 1. Food categorisation
You will learn about the process of collecting and categorising data on different foods.
- Collect data on different foods and categorise them according to whether they are healthy.
- Familiarise yourself with the list of different foods from Worksheet 1. List of foods and their data and search the internet for information about them – what is the calorie, protein, carbohydrate, fat content per 100g for that product? Follow the steps:
- Finding the data per 100g of a particular food is done by opening the specific web page for a particular product from the EatThisMuchplatform. Open the link https://www.eatthismuch.com/food/browse/?q=&type=food
- The pictures below are screenshots from the aforementioned web platform, aiming at a more detailed illustration.
EXAMPLE: Looking for “onions”. It appears in the list of remaining foods. We click on the food:

From the specific food’s page, we select the amount to track calories, carbs, etc.

3. Classify the foods into three categories: healthy, moderately healthy and unhealthy, according to the parameters previously shown for each criterion. Fill in the data in the Worksheet 1.
4. Enter the collected information in a table (e.g. Google Sheets or Excel)
