Let’s Eat Well and Healthy

What I learned

❖ Food contains nutrients – carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and drinking water. The body processes foods, and then absorbed in processed form by the cells of the human body to produce energy, sustain life, and promote growth.

❖  A healthy diet should include moderate amounts of food but should be varied and tailored to individual needs and lifestyle. It will be different for people who do a lot of exercise, have a health problem or spend a lot of time in front of a computer. It is important to know how many calories a day our bodies need to function well – not to overeat, but not to deprive ourselves of food.

❖  Computer technology and the retrieval of information from reliable sources help us make better choices about the foods we eat.

❖  Foods can be classified according to their healthfulness as healthy, moderately healthy and unhealthy. This depends on their fat, carbohydrate, protein and vitamin content, as well as the calories in different foods.

❖  Food is not only fuel for our bodies but also a source of pleasure, health and emotion. Being mindful of our eating habits, including the consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats, allows us to enjoy delicious and healthy food. It helps us feel good, both physically and mentally. A balanced, nutritious diet gives us energy, boosts our immune system, improves our mood and protects us from chronic disease.
