You will investigate the environment (acidic, basic or neutral) of different types of honey and explain what these values mean.

1. Dilute a small amount of honey in distilled water (usually 1 part honey to 10 parts water).

2. Measure the pH of the solution using a pH meter or pH strips.

3. Record the results in the table on Worksheet 3. Determining of pH of honey and compare the different types of honey.

4. Answer the questions in the worksheet in writing:

• What are the pH values of different types of copper?
• What does pH mean about the quality of honey and its properties?
• Why is it important for honey to have a certain acidity?
